PHOENIX -- The way the Arizona Diamondbacks have been hitting the last few days, they didn't seem to need a sterling performance from starting pitcher Josh Collmenter.
He delivered one any way Wednesday night, striking out six and scattering five hits over eight innings without allowing an earned run in Arizona's 9-1 romp over the Colorado Rockies.
Jordan Pacheco stung his former team with a three-run home run and Yasmany Tomas drove in three runs with two singles to lead the Diamondbacks.
Collmenter (2-3) got through a bumpy first inning and at one point, retired 12 straight.
"I felt better with my command out of the gate," Collmenter said. "The way we were taking some swings, we looked pretty good. Just wanted to give the team as many opportunities to score and they continued to do that."
The Diamondbacks scored five runs in the fifth inning -- all with two outs -- to break open a 2-1 game. Rockies starter Jordan Lyles walked the bases loaded, and Tomas, whose first major-league RBI came Tuesday night, slapped a single to right field to drive in Ender Inciarte and Paul Goldschmidt.
"That's what we felt like he could do. He can be a run producer," Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale said of Tomas, a rookie from Cuba. "He just seems to be getting better at all parts of the game on an everyday basis."
Pacheco was next, and his first home run of the season cleared the wall in left field. Pacheco was waived by the Rockies last June and was claimed by the Diamondbacks.
"We know the offense is there for him, it's just been tough to get him at-bats as a pinch-hitter," Hale said of Pacheco. "So it's nice to get him three or four in one game."
It was the first home run allowed by Lyles (2-2) in seven starts. The Rockies are winless in all four of Lyles' career starts in Arizona.
Lyles allowed six earned runs and eight hits with five walks.
"Too many walks. Too many runners scoring via the walks. It's uncalled for, unnecessary walks, and you can't live like that," Lyles said.
Nolan Arenado's two-out single drove in Troy Tulowitzki, who doubled, in the first inning to give the Rockies the lead. But the Diamondbacks went ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the inning on two singles, a double steal, a throwing error and Mark Trumbo's RBI single.
Trumbo has reached base safely in 16 straight games against Colorado. Arizona scored a combined 21 runs on Tuesday and Wednesday, Goldschmidt had three hits and David Peralta walked three times, doubled and scored twice.
Goldschmidt has three or more hits in three straight games for the first time in his career.
"Just played up to our capabilities the last couple of days," Goldschmidt said.
Arizona's Aaron Hill, used as a pinch-hitter in the eighth, reached on a bunt single in his 1,300th career game.
The Diamondbacks on Wednesday placed pitcher Archie Bradley on the 15-day disabled list with a sinus fracture in the right side of his face, the result of being struck with a batted ball in the second inning of Tuesday's game against the Rockies.
The club called up reliever Enrique Burgos from Double-A Mobile to take Bradley's place on the roster. Burgos made his major-league debut when he pitched the ninth inning.
Bradley feels he will be back as soon as the 15 days are up.
"I think I'm going to take a couple of days off and then try to get back into it," Bradley said. "Once the swelling goes down I can get back into strenuous activity."
Bradley said Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez, who hit the ball, texted to say he was praying for him.
"It just thought it was a really classy move for him to reach out to me," Bradley said.
Bradley also heard from Los Angeles Angels slugger Mike Trout and former NFL linebacker Brian Bosworth, both offering encouragement.
PERALTA POWER
LF Peralta had a fine sixth inning, throwing out Corey Dickerson at home trying to score on a short-hop single by Tulowitzki. Then Peralta took away a hit from Justin Morneau, snaring a fly ball near the wall for the third out of the inning.
"That pumped me up," Inciarte said. "He plays hard. It's good to see him make those plays."
DAY OFF FOR DJ
Rockies manager Walt Weiss left 2B D.J. LeMahieu out of the starting lineup Wednesday, hoping to give him a break despite his four-game hitting streak. LeMahieu's replacement, Daniel Descalso, committed a first-inning throwing error that allowed a run to score after a double steal.
UP NEXT
Rockies: After getting Thursday off, the Rockies are in San Diego with Eddie Butler (1-1) the scheduled starter in Friday's series opener. Butler has never faced the Padres, but has made six of his seven career starts against the NL West.
Diamondbacks: Arizona's April schedule is over, and the Diamondbacks will start May against at the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday. Former Dodger Rubby De La Rosa (2-1), who has never faced his former team, is on the mound.
